• Signed with the Boston Red Sox
• Four years of armed service—United States Army Platoon Sergeant
• Educator—Melvindale Northern Allen Park Schools and St. Mary Magdalen
• Coached Catholic Youth League
• Retired in 1999 from his own business as a painting contractor
